The Sports Think Tank XXI

Thanks to our host, The Hornet at 1st and S. Broadway in Denver.  North Carolina has institutional corruption in their academic and athletic department.  We discuss North Carolina getting the "Death Penalty."  And in all honesty, can North Carolina be the only school with these issues?  Probably not.  We get into corruption in the NCAA and we debate whether payers will get paid and if the NCAA will eventually be the minor leagues.

A recent trend in the NBA and even MLB is players becoming head coaches without any experience coaching.  Why is this happening?  Very interesting discussinon.  Entitlement is everywhere.  Is it in coaching too?

The Sports Think Tank Episode X

Number 10 is here.  A perfect 10?  Probably not, but a fun night at The Hornet.  This is the 10th edition of The Sports Think Tank.  Thanks again to The Hornet on S. Broadway for hosting our podcast again tonight.  No dong pics here, but the quote of the night was @MaseDenver comparing Greg Oden to a fire hose.  Lots of hoops talk tonight.  We start with the NBA and the New York Knicks hiring Phil Jackson as General Manager.  Jackson made no bones about wanting the Knicks to run the Triangle offense.  The question will be if Melo wants to play for Jackson and if Jackson wants Melo.  Interesting discussion on what the Knicks might do...and will Jim Dolan butt out and let Jackson run the team.

In part II we get into drug addiction with the DWI arrest of Colts owner Jim Irsay.  Alcohol and prescription drugs.  Will the Ginger Hammer drop the hammer on Irsay with a fine and suspension?  Will he be repremanded at all?  Irsay is going to rehab and you have to hope that it works for him.  Time will tell, but we get into the relationship of owner and dependents/employees and addiciton.

Finally, back to hoops...college hoops, but we don't talk about the NCAA Tournament.  We talk Auburn hiring Bruce Peal.  Has Pearl changed his ways?  Really?  Think Bruce Pearl is on the straight and narrow now?  College athletics is about making money and winner...that it.  We get down and dirty with the Tigers hiring Pearl...who actually can't recruit for another 3 months.  He's still suspended by the NCAA for lying to them and having others lie in the Tennessee cover up.  Oh college basketball, you are so dirty and how I love you.

Thanks for listening The Sports Think Tank and thanks for telling your friends, family, and co-workers about us.  We really appreciate that as we continue to grow the podcast.  Now for one of the great bloody marys at The Hornet.

The Sports Think Tank Episode VIII

Tonight on The Sports Think Tank we decided to discuss what is wrong with basketball.  Why do many NBA players dog it on defense?  Why do many players seemed spoiled?  Is it guaranteed money?  What about AAU basketball?  We get down and dirty with AAU and its' influence on college basketball.  Almost every major college basketball program pays AAU coaches to get their best players.  It's the dirty ugly truth about college hoops and nearly every team does it.  We pull no punches.  Let us know what you think.

Please do us a favor and tell your friends, family, and co-workers about our podcast.  Thanks for helping us grow our audience.
